What Are Your Favorite Worship Songs?

Priscilla and I are loving the comments about worship styles...keep 'em coming! Yesterday, Priscilla's conversation with gospel recording artist Beverly Crawford reminded us of the BIGNESS of our God when we see the vast range of worship expressions that glorifies Him. Wow!
Several of you mentioned specific worship artists that you listen to, and I started making some mental notes because there were many that weren't familiar to me. It made me want to run to iTunes and check them out! But before we all go out and blindly start downloading whole albums, we thought we'd ask you to share specific songs that you are currently blessed by.
Would you share your current "top five" songs? And take it one step further by sharing what is meaningful about that song: the melody, the words, the scripture, how it speaks to your present situation, how it moves you.
I'll start with my own faves:
I Will Exalt You - Hillsong: "my hiding place, my safe refuge, my shelter Lord, you are." 'Nuff said.
I Boast No More - Caedmon's Call: puts all "my" efforts into perspective
Revelation Song - Kari Jobe: I can't keep my hands down when I listen
Mighty to Save - Hillsong: whenever I'm feeling weak, this is my anthem
Healer - Kari Jobe - "I trust in You, I trust in You...I believe You are all I need.."
YOUR TURN! Share your top 5 worship songs...and help us expand our own worship experience by introducing us to your favorite artists and their music! This will be fun....
Worship SOngs
What an awesome topic! growing up Baptist, I know the spiritual hymns, but I remember when a pentecostal musician was hired to help our youth choir and we learned these songs by Hezekiah Walker and I was amazed at the rhythm and words I could understand. I believe that music became my foundation for my relationship with God. I currently listen to CCM and gospel music, I love Chris Tomlin, Casting Crowns, fee, amy grant,Smokie Norful, and Richard Smallwood.
My top 5 praise songs:
1. Falling in love with Jesus- Jonathan Butler - this song when I first heard it, reminded me of what I felt when I first came to God. I had been looking for love in the wrong places and doing it in the bed to find it, but when I came to Jesus, I found the meaning of true love and realized no one can love me like He loves me.
2. Praise the Lord - The imperials - I first heard this song riding home from my doctor's visit when I found out my chances of conceiving were 1%, I was devastated and didn't know what to do, but when this song came, it spoke to me and that is what I did- I praised Him through my pain and He bought healing to my soul!
3. God is able - speaks for itself- "God is able to do just what He said He will do, He's gonna fulfill every promise to you. Don't give up on God cuz he won't give up on you, HE"S ABLE!"
4. Resurrection by Nicol Spoonberg - speaks of the resurrection power of God in our lives
5. Hide - you don't have to hide anymore. The song speaks of how God loves you and wants what is best for you, you are not alone.
These are my favorite songs, that each time I sing or hear them, I reminded of my relationship with Him and realize that there is no other place I would rather be, except in His presence.
Right now I can only think of
Right now I can only think of one, The Desert Song - Hillsong - regardless He can be praised. Amen and amen:)

4. "Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)" by Chris Tomlin
5. "Orphans of God" by Avalon-not really a traditional worship song but I worship every time I hear it! What an amazing thought to no that there are NO orphans to God, NO outcasts, No One off limits. He is God to ANYONE who will call on him.

....but there's only one that's been going through my head for the past several days (and not in an annoying way either): You Alone Can Rescue by Matt Redman (off his latest album) - "You alone can rescue, You alone can save. You alone can lift us from the grave! You came down to find us, led us out of death. To You alone belongs the highest praise!"
I LOVE this conversation!
I am so excited to start finding "new to me" songs and artists today! I'll bet I'm only familiar with a small percentage of these....iTunes, here I come. Keep the suggestions coming!
WORSHIP!
Hey friends,
Well, I love worship just as much as the next gal. And I find myself listening to all different types of music depending on the mood I'm in that day.
So here are a few of my faves.
"I Am" - by Eddie James. This guy was just at our church this past Sunday. UNBELIEVALBE
"Worthy is the Lamb" - Hillsong
"You are For Me" - Kari Jobe
"More" - Mary Alessi
"Pour Your Spirit Out" - Shannon Wexelberg
"You Amaze Me" - Vicki Yohe
"We Lift You Up" - Micah Stampley
"Hero" - Kirk Franklin
Oops, is that more than 5!
Have a good day, Ya'll
Priscila
My current faves!!!
1. I Am - Eddie James - he has a beautiful voice and ministry - I was incredibly blessed to hear him last Sunday and Wednesday at church.
2. Revelation Song - Kari Jobe - great voice, and I just love that song.
3. I Choose Now - Anthony Evans, Jr. - I love his voice and his ministry - you can just see how humble he is. And the song reminds me to praise God ALWAYS. We don't have to wait for good or bad times.
4. I Give Myself Away - William McDowell - this is a seriously annointed song. Just brings me to tears. Reminds me of the power and provision God will give to His children when we surrender everything to Him.
5. A Pure Heart -can find it on youtube with a young man named Passion singing it. It reminds me of youth group back in the day and what we should long for.
6. It Ain't Over - Maurette Brown Clark - Well, it ain't over until God says it's over, so we should never give up -what a blessing of a message.

Great topic! 1. Holy is Your
Great topic!
1. Holy is Your Name--Bebo Norman & caedmon's Call on City On a Hill, I like the melody to the lyrics. I could sing it all day long.
2. In Christ Alone--Adi Camp & Geoff Moore. The music emphasizes the power of the lyrics. I get goosebumps when they sing "bursting forth in victory" about our Savior's resurrection. And this version has an Celtic sound.
3. Invitacion Fountain--Vineyard. Love the chorus of this song.
4. You Are Holy--Michael W. Smith. This is my husband's & my fave to sing together. We were introduced to this at a FamilyLife event. The music & lyrics are powerful & to hear the women echo the men is not experienced enough during worship.
5. Revelation Song--Kari Jobe. I love to listen & sing along to her live version on YouTube with the powerful orchestra. I don't care how bad I sound, I won't let that keep me from getting a taste of Heaven!
Worship Songs
My playlist is mainly of December Radio and Natalie Grant. December Radio is definitely a harder rock beat which is why they are great to exercise too. In order of favorites,
1. Gasoline by December Radio - The words express how God can be all consuming from the inside out.
2. Razor by December Radio - The words reflect how God's word can cut deeper than anything I will ever know.
3. Greed by December Radio - Helps me reflect that being greedy and materialistic will never fill the hole, only one can God.
4. The Real Me by Natalie Grant - Shows me how God loves know matter what. The lyrics about being held together with tape hoping no one will notice brings tears to my eyes.
5. I Will Not Be Moved by Natalie Grant - The title says it all.
Top Five!
Third Day - Take My Life
Chris Tomlin - How Great is Our God
Britt Nicole - Set the World on Fire
Chris Tomlin - Jesus Messiah
New Life Worship - Counting On God
Top 5 Favorite Worship Songs
I'm listening to one of them right now...
1. You Won't Relent-Jesus Culture Band...It grabs lyrics from Song of Solomon. One part of the song says "I don't wanna talk about you like you're not in the room, wanna look right at you, wanna sing right to you." I love that because Jesus is real and His Spirit is with us always. "You won't relent until you have it all, my heart is yours."
2. No Sweeter Name-Gateway Worship...Because there is NO SWEETER NAME than that of JESUS!
3. Revelation Song-Kim Walker...It's just so pure. Straight out of scripture. "Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God almighty who was and is and is to come..."
4. Your Love Never Fails-Jesus Culture Band...Because no matter what I do nothing can separate me from the love of Christ. His love never fails me. There are so many great scripture references in this praise song! I could listen to it again and again.
5. Hosanna! - Paul Baloche..."Cause when we see you, we find strength to face the day and in your presence all our fears are washed away." Whenever I'm looking for strength to make it through my day I think of this song. God always meets me right where I am and encourages me when I sing it.
Whew! It's hard to only pick five! Being married to a Worship Pastor, I am exposed to a lot of worship music. All the songs on my blog have special meaning to me.
This has been fun! What will we discuss next???
-Melissa
Oops! I meant Revelation
Oops! I meant Revelation Song, Kari Jobe! Sorry! I was thinking about "How He Loves Us" that's sung by Kim Walker, and debating which one to list.
Melissa, i LOVE Your Love
Melissa, i LOVE Your Love Never Fails. Great album!
Great song ideas
I love all these new songs! or new to me:) I love Pour My Love on You and anything by Kari Jobe.
I don't even think these count, but...
I don't even think these "count" but as someone who was a little girl in the Catholic church in the 1970s, I still love all the "new" music from then. If I could choose all the music for my church for one day, it would be:
Gather Us In
Prayer of St. Francis
Gift of Finest Wheat
We Are One in the Spirit (And They'll Know We are Christians by Our Love)
Also known in our family as "The Church Parking Lot Song," as right after singing this, people raced to the parking lot and drove as though they'd never been to church at all! Oh well.
Thanks for the tips on the other praise music--not many places to hear it around here so I'm always looking for new ideas!

That's IT!
Glad Prisilla mentioned Marty Allisi. Her name was on the tip of my brain yesterday but I just couldn't think of it. Her sister, Mary Munnizzi is no joke either. Mary has a compilation cd called When Women Worsip that is amazing!
1. Winter Snow-Chris Tomlin’s
1. Winter Snow-Chris Tomlin’s Glory in the Highest CD. Audrey Assad sings it and she’s incredible!! This song reminds me of the gentle grace God extends to us. His tender, caring and compassionate ways!
2. In Christ Alone by Travis Cottrell. There is no other my complete hope is found than Christ alone!

5. Revelation Song by Kari Jobe. This song is incredibly powerful! He is so worthy!!
My List (No Particular Order)
1. Revelation Song by Kari Jobe. I love the simplicity of Kari's version. It's hard for me to play the guitar and sing this at the same time because my hands want to fly up in the air after the first word.
2. How He Loves. No words. I am just completely overwhelmed.
3. God With Us. The line "like hinges straining from the weight my heart no longer can keep from singing" is my favorite. I hope I will always be able to say this and mean it.
4. In Christ Alone by Travis Cottrell. This song pumps me up like no other. It reminds me that I can be completely confident in Christ.
5. You Are My Joy by David Crowder*Band. There is nothing better than allowing Jesus to be my delight. He is my joy.
worship.

2. Desert Song by Hillsong - We all have been in the desert and we still have to praise Him in those moments. Even in those moments where we don't want to, we need to. We need to sing and raise our hands to the One who will get us out of the desert time and time again.
