Great Value

The English word bank is endless. There are a bazillion terms at our disposal that we can use as we desire, and new terms are being added to our lexicon every day. Lengthy terms, shorter terms . . . oddly spelled terms . . . and then, there are terms with multiple meanings.

According to the 1989 Guinness Book of World Records, the term “set” has 430 meanings! In 2011, the New York Times published an article stating that a well-known lexicographer of the Oxford English Dictionary, studied the word “run” and calculated that it has roughly 645 meanings!

These are only two of several, three-letter words that have hundreds of meanings. Each meaning is derived for a specific purpose and plays an important role in our language. Imagine life without the word “run.” How would we describe the act of running? We would no longer be able to use phrases like, “ran to the store,” or “running a fever.” Among others, these two examples prove the frequent appearance and importance of the term “run” in our vocabulary.

This dovetails very interestingly with one other three-letter word that has an even greater value and importance than these two previously mentioned terms.

As cheesy as it sounds, it’s true. YOU.

God created you in His image (Genesis 1:27), and your value and importance derives from this truth.

YOU have a mind like Christ. (1 Corinthians 2:16)

YOU are the salt of the earth. (Matthew 5:13)

YOU are God’s co-worker. (1 Corinthians 3:9)

YOU are Christ’s friend. (John 15:15)

YOUR needs are met by God. (Philippians 4:19)

YOU are the light of the world. (Matthew 5:14)

YOU are God’s workmanship. (Ephesians 2:10)

YOU can be assured that all things are working together for your good. (Romans 8:28)

YOU can do all things through Christ who gives you strength. (Philippians 4:13)

The list goes on and on . . .

Our abilities may seem limited, but with Him we have great power! What appears small (you) is actually supernaturally grand (you + God)! Sometimes we find ourselves withholding our full potential because we think it’s unattainable. And, to be honest, in our own power it is! But, we serve a God who created us for a purpose. Maybe not 645 purposes . . . but for a special, unique one because we all have great value in His eyes!

You may be in a place in life where you are trying to discover what your purpose is, and sister, as you continue to walk your day-to-day path, we are praying that the Lord will reveal that to you! For those of you that have discovered your calling, continue moving forward. We’re so excited to see what is in store!

No matter the season of life you are in . . . you have GREAT VALUE and you serve a purpose!
