The Bible In A Year

Jan 01, 2012

Hey there! How was your New Year’s Eve? I enjoyed mine – minus the cold that caught up with me on the 30th and overstayed it’s welcome into the 31st. I spent most of the day in bed fighting off feverish sensations and trying to keep my sneezing fits to a minimum. By the time evening came, my husband had me so drugged that I felt good enough to head to church for New Year’s Eve service -which was extra special! My brother and fellow church-member, Kirk Franklin (check out our past vlogs with him here and here) performed a full blown concert and it was AMAZING! I enjoyed every moment of it and then raced back to the house and into bed for a full night sleep. Needless to say, I missed the whole “count-down-to-the-New-Year” thing :)Another thing about New Year’s Eve that was a bit sentimental to me was that I finished a year long journey that I have been on. Those of you who visit me here fairly regularly know that I’ve been reading the Bible through in 2011. It has been quite an adventure. I’ve taken in large doses of Scripture at a time in order to follow the reading program that I was on and, oh gracious, was it challenging at times to keep up. (More than once, I got behind) But, I hung in there and turned the final page on the 31st. I felt enriched by this endeavor and at the same time, I felt a bit of relief and excitement as I move into my new spiritual endeavor for this year.In 2011, as I read, I wrote down passages that were of interest to me. I’ve got tons of pages of Scripture references and their theme’s written down in a notebook that I intend to spend 2012 combing through. I can’t wait. I want to dig deeper into some verses that I only had time to scan this year. I cannot wait to see what the Lord will want to teach me through each nugget.I can only imagine that it is going to take me this entire year to go back through the verses that I noted and I am excited about every one of them.I hope to fill you in on some of the great things that the Holy Spirit has in store for me this year. I’m interested to know what your spiritual goals are for this year. What do you have planned?I know we can encourage each other!Priscilla
