Girlfriend Time

May 01, 2011

Have you ever gotten away with a girlfriend or two for a weekend…or even a day? I hate to admit this, but other than the occasional church women’s retreat, I NEVER have.

Until now.

A friend invited me to spend a few days in the Smoky Mountains at another friend’s cabin, and the offer was just too irresistable to pass up. We have a little project that we are working on together and thought it would be great to peck away at it some – and relax some. I’m not sure if there will be more relaxing than working, but either way, this is a super-dee-duper treat for me! I’m kinda pinchin’ my little self that I am here.

See, I am a late-comer to “girlfriend” time. Friendships with other women have been put on life’s back burner as I’ve raised kids and built a business and been busy with other things. But in recent years I’ve realized how much I need friendships to help keep me grounded and refreshed. They’ve lightened my load with laughter and new perspective that I’ve sometimes lost along the way. They’ve made me feel that I don’t have to walk alone – and that is priceless to me.

Do you have friendships with other women? Or do you find it difficult to make and keep them? What do you do to help keep your special friendships alive? What is your favorite way to spend your “girlfriend time?”

The Newbie Girlfriend 🙂
